When I get my own house, and have a family, I will remove the locks to my (and anyone else’s) rooms. This is for two reasons. One, I’ve been living with a door that can’t even latch for the the past three years. I’ve had no problems, except when my brother walks in while I’m changing. But, two, my brother locks his door every night, often with the lights on, then falls asleep. It’s dangerous (as always, in case of fire) and pretty damn irresponsible. Therefore, I see no reason to have a lock on the door to your bedroom, because it serves no purpose except to be abused. You should knock first anyway.
